In this research, the subsidence of the Humand-Absard plain and the factors affecting it have been investigated. Sentinel-1 satellite radar images were used to measure the amount of subsidence in the Humand-Absard plain during the period from 2014 to 2019. To interpret and process the satellite images, the DinSAR technique was employed using the LiCSBAS package, which is an image processing tool that can be implemented in Python software. The subsidence rate obtained for the aquifer varied from 0 to 11 mm per year. Next, to investigate the factors affecting subsidence and determine the aquifer's subsidence potential, information layers were created using GIS software. Based on expert assessments and collected data, nine layers of information on the factors influencing subsidence were prepared and weighted in the GIS environment. These factors included the amount of water abstraction from the aquifer, cumulative drawdown in groundwater levels, porosity, compressibility of the aquifer, aquifer thickness, distance from the river, thickness of the vadose zone, land use, and changes in effective stress. The combination of the layers, along with the assigned weights, was performed using the weighted overlay method to create a subsidence potential index map. To verify the accuracy of the generated map, the subsidence measured by the DinSAR method was compared with the subsidence potential at the locations of the piezometers, resulting in a high correlation (R = 0.91) between the two maps. The results also indicated that the highest subsidence occurred in the central parts of the plain, where groundwater abstraction and drawdown were greatest, while the lowest subsidence was observed in the northern regions.
